About The Hoods
Jennifer and Amy Hood are twin sisters living and working in Southern California. Although they are graphic designers by trade, they might best be described as students of culture. Their life has been a mixed bag of bluegrass jams and southern livin’ in Bowling Green, KY; posh country clubs and March Madness in Syracuse, NY; rock ‘n’ roll and venue hopping in Nashville, TN; and endless summer days along the coast of Orange County, CA. They’ve seen the many facets of American culture and they’re still soaking it in. Lucky for them, culture is the key to good design. Defining, redefining, and twisting cultural references into relatable or unexpected designs is their business.
The Hoods both started making art at young ages. Juvenile art projects as curious kids and cheeky teens eventually grew into positions as graphic designers for local Orange County publication the OC Gazette and local print company Network Print Solutions. While cutting their graphic design teeth in the fast-paced publishing and printing arena, Amy and Jennifer slowly began growing their freelance art ventures, working with clients locally and nationally, eventually adopting the moniker Hoodzpah Art + Graphics. Whether it’s designing a tattoo, illustrating a comic about a cowboy assassin done in by a stack of poisoned pancakes, creating a poster for a zombie apocalypse podcast (all real and rad clients), they’ve got you covered.
