The Hellfire + Brimstone Rider // 3 Skeleton Motorbike Prints
Fringe is getting demmed good.
Walter has just resurrected the “ghost”/energy of Bell-y (Spak) and he’s manifesting in Olivia!
Good lawdy that show is so good. Walter is brilliant and naively hilarious and who doesn’t love Joshua Jackson as the stoic straight guy / heartthrob?
Anyways, a failed Fringe fan art print idea led me to another idea of doing some really rough and raw, slap-dash art prints of skeleton ghosts on vintage motorbikes. I was thinking Cycle Zombies when I was throwing it all together. They always have these rad blog headers and graphics – really worn and gritty and unpolished drawings and designs of bloody limbs, motorcycles, shields, etc.
So I started by rummaging through the commons area of Flickr. What a gold stash.
Found an old photo of a feather haired male riding out of Dodge on a motorcycle.
Then I sketched a primitive, unrefined looking skeleton with a captain’s hat and military boots on.
Some scanner action and Illustrator clicking later, and “voila”, as the french would say.
Finally, the last touch – a homespun mini story about our ghost biker:
The Hellfire & Brimstone Rider
He Came in on a Cloud of Dust & Blood
Wearing a Captain’s Hat and a Fleshless Vesture
Bam. Done. I rather like the random gradient colors and the weird overlay effects of the pearlescent, translucent skeleton.
