Original Illustration for Faye & Co
We recently fell into the graces of a new and inspiring friend. Her name is Diane Faye Zerr and she is an amazing illustrator and designer working out of Reading, PA. She does custom invitations, original logos, and generally whimsical designs that draw from the quaint and rough & tumble sides of life. Diane wanted a unique illustration to depict this double sided nature of her design style. Her logo itself is a heart and spade meeting, showing the sweet and sharp natures of her personality and work. So she dialed us up to collaborate on a custom illustration showing a Queen of Hearts & Spades playing card, with Diane’s own facial profile as the inspiration for the Queen’s mug. One side of the card would show a good queen, and the other side a darker, snarkier queen. Amy and I went to work brainstorming, showed Diane some mockups, and then honed in the final look, shown here.
Do yourself a favor and take a look at Diane’s website for some delicious design inspiration. It’s full of tattoo-esque designs and hand-drawn fonts that have a lively, mischievous quality. There is NOTHING stale about this girl’s work.
