The Great Tiki Throwdown Poster for 320 Main
If you’ve read our blog or followed us on Twitter for long, you know that we are addicted to the cocktails and people at 320 Main. They are one of our awesome clients who we make any excuse to visit (another Moscow Mule barkeep!). Recently Jason, the owner and resident cocktail creator, contacted us to create a poster for their upcoming event: The Great Tiki Throwdown. He wanted it to harken back to the Tiki culture of mid-century America, when people gathered in Polynesian-inspired restaurants drinking rum and juice cocktails, trying to escape the troubles of impending world affairs. Here is the poster we put together for the gig. We drew up the Tiki dudes amongst the rum and bones, set it against a quaint Polynesian sunset, scanned it in, colored it in Illustrator, and then laid out the text to match.
320 Main’s event will gather great regional bartenders and craft cocktail experts to prepare Tiki cocktails made popular by the icons of Tiki culture, Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic included. The icons will duel it out for champion of the Tiki Cocktail. Who judges the drinks? The attendees at the event! So go down, drink to your hearts content, and revel in the kitsch and nostalgia of the Tiki era. The Great Tiki Throwdown will be Monday, August 20th at 7pm at 320 Main, Seal Beach, CA.
